27 | THAT’S COME OUT OF A CANNON THAT HAS!

125th Anniversary Crest

Parochial it may be, but there are few better sights at The Hawthorns than the Albion beating Wolves.

September 1993 was a classic if the genre as the Throstles, back in the second tier after two seasons away, and blighted by the departure of manager Ossie Ardiles for Tottenham in the summer, took on Sir Jack Hayward’s old gold millionaires.

The game had everything, including Darren Bradley’s screamer that would have probably knocked down half of the Birmingham Road End – the stand, not the fans – if the net hadn’t got in the way. Then there was the liquid football that ended with Kevin Donovan’s perfectly placed header and even more perfectly produce celebration.

Fill your boots.
