Albion secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Sky Bet League One outfit Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon.
James Morrison handed valuable match minutes to 18 players, with the club's 2026/27 opening fixture at Rotherham United in the first round of the Carabao Cup now just one week away.
Strikers Aune Heggebø and Barney Stewart were both on target in the second half on a day where the Baggies looked dominant throughout.
The visitors made a bright start to the encounter and could've taken the lead three times in the opening 13 minutes. Jayson Molumby saw a goal-bound shot from inside the area blocked by a Posh defender, Ousmane Diakité's powerful effort from 25 yards deflected wide and Isaac Price curled the ball into the gloves of Alex Bass in the home net from the left side of the box.
Nolan Galves, making his first appearance for his new club, was heavily involved in the first period. His teasing right-wing delivery found former Peterborough forward JJ Morgan at the back post, but his header from a tight angle drifted wide in the middle of the half.
Shortly after, Galves was afforded space on the corner of the penalty area and drilled a dangerous ball across the face of goal. Sadly, neither Heggebø or Price could get a telling touch and the two teams went in level at the break.
The Baggies didn't have to wait too long for a goal after the interval, mind - just three minutes to be exact. The ball was worked over to the left wing and Price picked out Heggebø at the near post, with the Norwegian converting on the volley.
The Northern Ireland international then tried his luck from distance, shooting down low after Diakité had won the ball on the halfway line. Unfortunately for Price, Bass made a comfortable save.
But Albion would make it 2-0 19 minutes from the end. Two of the second-half subs combined - Mikey Johnston drove forward and moved it to the right side of the box, where Stewart was waiting to slot into the far bottom corner.
The summer signing from Falkirk should have had his second inside the final seven minutes. Alex Mowatt delivered a terrific cross on the left, with Stewart unable to guide his header on target.
The hosts failed to properly test Max O'Leary and the Baggies safely saw out the remaining moments of the contest.
