Albion 0-0 Stoke City

Albion’s Sky Bet Championship encounter with Stoke City ended goalless on Saturday afternoon.

Both sides had opportunities to turn the scoreline in their favour, but were forced to settle for just a share of the spoils at The Hawthorns.

The hosts were the more fluid side in the opening exchanges, coming close through Jed Wallace, who arguably had the best opportunity of the half. He drove through the heart of the Potters’ defence, allowing him to unleash a shot just wide.

That chance appeared to spark the match into life, Stoke responded by testing Max O’Leary with two simple successive saves from Bosun Lawal and Sorba Thomas.

Albion almost grabbed the opener before halfway, as Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba’s deflected effort, created by a smart dart inside from the debutant, was tipped over by Tommy Simkin.

Eric Ramsay looked to spur on Albion’s attacking efforts with three changes on the hour, opting to bring Mikey Johnston, Aune Heggebø and Josh Maja into play.

And the former came close to an instant impact, whipping a low cross into Price - who could only find the side netting.

Goalkeeper O’Leary was called upon to beat away a late Million Manhoef strike, but otherwise, neither goal was troubled in the latter stages, leaving both sides to settle for a point.

Albion: O’Leary; Gilchrist (Imray 74’), Phillips, Mepham (Taylor 82’), Styles; Molumby, Mowatt; Wallace (Johnston 62’), Price, Jimoh-Aloba (Maja 62’); Dike (Heggebø 62’).
