£13,000 raised through annual Golf Day

Participants at our Golf Day.

The Albion Foundation hosted its annual Golf Day on Friday, June 20, with the aim of raising funds for West Bromwich Albion’s charity arm.

The competition was hosted customarily at Sandwell Park Golf Club, just half a mile along the Birmingham Road from The Hawthorns, where 15 teams of golfers enjoyed a full 18-hole tournament.

Events and Partnerships Coordinator Steve Meeson was delighted to see such a “fantastic” day in aid of the Foundation.

“We had a really successful Golf Day again,” Meeson beamed. “The weather was fantastic, plenty of teams turned out to make it a great day and everyone seemed to really enjoy their time.

“We raised valuable funds for The Albion Foundation to continue our excellent work in the community.

“Fantastic weather, probably the best weather we’ve had yet for a Golf Day, maybe even a little bit too warm for some people. It’s much better than pouring rain which we’ve had before.”

The event wouldn’t have been possible without its sponsors and the hospitality of Sandwell Park Golf Club, and Meeson was quick to thank them for their support.

“We’re really grateful to all of the people who sponsored the Golf Day,” Meeson said. “Particularly Bennett Whitehouse who were the main sponsors for the day.

“Thank you to Stiltz Home Lifts and Hall Financial Planners who were also competition hole sponsors. Sandwell Park Golf Club did us proud as they always do, they’ve just resigned up as Patrons for another year.

“They always look after us well on our Golf Days, so a huge thank you to them.”
