Four members of West Bromwich Albion Powerchair Football Club will represent their nations at the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with three players and a coach set to take part on the sport's biggest stage.
Three West Bromwich Albion Powerchair Football Club players are preparing to represent their countries at the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Chris Gordon and Marcus Harrison have been selected as part of England's squad, while Bryan Weiss will represent France as the world's best powerchair football nations compete for global honours in Buenos Aires from 17-23 October.
The tournament marks another significant milestone for all three players, who continue to showcase the strength of West Bromwich Albion Powerchair Football Club on the international stage.
For Gordon, the competition will be particularly special as he prepares for his fourth World Cup appearance. His international journey began in Paris in 2011, before returning to the world stage in Florida in 2017 and Sydney in 2023.
Harrison and Weiss will both be making their third World Cup appearances, having first competed in Kissimmee, Florida, in 2017 before featuring again in Sydney in 2023.
The Albion trio's experience at the highest level of the game highlights their commitment, dedication and quality, with each player continuing to play an important role for both club and country.
This year's tournament also comes during an exciting period for WBA PFC. French international Bryan Weiss joined the club ahead of the 2026/27 season and is currently enjoying his first campaign in the Wheelchair Football Association Premiership.
Marcus Harrison also returned to the club this season following a two-year spell with his hometown club, Greenbank PFC. His return has further strengthened the squad and sees him head to Argentina for what will be his third World Cup appearance.
The Albion Foundation's presence at this year's World Cup extends beyond the playing squad.
WBA PFC Coach Colin Gordon will also be involved in the tournament after spending the last 18 months as Head Coach of the Argentina national team. Having previously enjoyed significant success during a 12-year coaching spell with England, Gordon has helped guide Argentina's development on the international stage and led them to a silver-medal finish at the 2025 Americas Cup in Phoenix, Arizona.
Adding another fascinating storyline to the competition, Gordon could find himself coming up against his son Chris, alongside Albion teammates Marcus Harrison and Bryan Weiss, when the tournament gets underway in Buenos Aires.
Speaking ahead of the World Cup, Colin said:
"After working for the FA for 12 years, and being very successful winning a gold, two silvers and a bronze medal in all major championships, I was asked by Mariano Zergarelli to take over the Head Coach Role for the Argentinian Powerchair Team.
"I was very excited about the opportunity; I've been working there for the last 18 months travelling over numerous times for training camps and also taking them to the silver medal position in the Americas Cup over in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2025.
"It's exciting now that we are hosting the World Cup in Buenos Aires in two weeks' time, and it's great fun for me to think I'll be setting up a team against Chris, Marcus & Bryan.
"Marcus & Chris I've obviously coached for many years, but Bryan we've had many run-ins with England and France, playing in many finals and having some fantastic games.
"So, I'm really looking forward to competing against the West Brom boys, and hopefully Argentina can come out on top this time.
"I'm delighted for West Brom and The Albion Foundation to have the representation we are having in Argentina and hope that fans look out for all of our results, and in particular Argentina's success!"
Adding an extra layer of intrigue to this year's tournament, England and France have been drawn together in the Round Robin stage, meaning the Albion teammates will go head-to-head from the outset.
The fixture also renews a growing rivalry between the two nations following their dramatic meeting in the 2023 World Cup Final, where France edged England on penalties after a closely contested contest in Sydney.
Looking ahead to the tournament, Chris is excited for the challenge that awaits.
"I'm really excited to travel over to Buenos Aires and get the action underway.
"We actually start the Round Robin stages against France, so us Albion lads will be going head-to-head in our first games. I'll be hoping that Marcus and myself come out on top, but I'm sure Bryan will have something to say about that!
"We know there will be very little to split the two teams based on recent form, so we may face each other at some point later in the competition.
"Hopefully, we can get our revenge after losing in the final on penalties in Sydney in 2023."
Supporters will be able to follow every moment of the action in Buenos Aires, with every match from the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup available to watch live via FIPFA's official YouTube channel.
Everyone at The Albion Foundation would like to congratulate Chris, Marcus and Bryan on their selections and wish them the very best of luck as they represent England and France at the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup.
We look forward to following their progress in Buenos Aires and celebrating their achievements on the world stage.
Good luck, Chris, Marcus, Bryan and Colin!
