Members of the West Bromwich Albion Powerchair Football Club squad returned from the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup with plenty to celebrate after Chris Gordon, Marcus Harrison, Bryan Weiss and coach Colin Gordon all played leading roles in a memorable tournament in Argentina.

Goalkeeper Chris Gordon and forward Marcus Harrison helped England reach the World Cup final following an outstanding campaign that saw the Three Lions progress through the group stage with a perfect record before overcoming hosts Argentina in the semi-finals.

That semi-final carried extra significance for the Gordon family, with Chris Gordon lining up for England against an Argentina side coached by his father, Colin Gordon. Despite Argentina's home advantage, England secured their place in the final, ending Colin's hopes of lifting the trophy on home soil.

Argentina would go on to finish fourth after a narrow 1-0 defeat to the USA in the third-place play-off, rounding off an impressive tournament for Colin Gordon and his squad.

Elsewhere, Bryan Weiss helped France reach the final after overcoming the USA in the other semi-final, setting up an all-Albion showdown for world football's biggest prize.

The final also marked a repeat of the 2023 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup final in Sydney, where France overcame England in a penalty shootout. Once again, the two nations produced a closely fought contest, but France edged the showdown 2-1 after extra time to retain their world title. Weiss, who scored twice during the tournament, finished the competition as a World Champion, while Chris Gordon and Marcus Harrison earned silver medals following another impressive England campaign.

While the team fell just short of lifting the trophy, Chris Gordon's performances throughout the competition were recognised with one of the tournament's highest individual honours, as he was named Defensive Player of the Tournament. The Albion goalkeeper played a crucial role in England's run to the final, keeping six clean sheets and conceding just one goal during his seven starts in the group stage.

Marcus Harrison also made a significant impact, scoring five goals during the tournament, including strikes against Australia and braces against both Uruguay and Italy as England challenged for world glory.

With two goals and a World Cup winner's medal to his name, Bryan Weiss once again demonstrated his quality on the international stage, playing his part in France's successful title defence.

Having representatives competing for England, France and Argentina highlights the strength and quality of West Bromwich Albion Powerchair Football Club on the international stage. Whether lifting the trophy, collecting silver medals, earning individual honours or guiding a nation to the final four, Chris Gordon, Marcus Harrison, Bryan Weiss and Colin Gordon have all done the Albion family proud at the 2026 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup.
