Albion earned three crucial Sky Bet Championship points with a 2-0 win at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

Josh Maja and Daryl Dike’s strikes - alongside the Baggies’ third consecutive clean sheet - ensured James Morrison’s men claimed victory and made it eight games unbeaten.

Backed by another incredible following, the visitors began brightly in Lancashire and took the lead inside the opening 11 minutes.

A superb passage of play involving good runs from Alex Mowatt and Isaac Price gave Aune Heggebø the opportunity to cleverly set-up Maja, and the striker confidently finished past Daniel Iversen.

Max O’Leary remained untroubled while his side pushed for a second before the break. Mowatt’s cross was flicked narrowly wide by Maja towards half-time, and Price also saw a venomous, close-range volley well-blocked.

After the restart Albion’s goalkeeper did get called into action, tipping Brad Potts’ header over as Preston tried to level the match.

But Morrison introduced Dike for the final stages and he put the Baggies out of sight in the 78th minute.

Molumby’s outstanding run and low cross found the American attacker, who hammered home the away team’s second goal - sparking wild celebrations among the 4,000 travelling fans.
