Brayann Pereira believes he’s reacted really positively to the disappointment of being sent off on his West Bromwich Albion debut back in September at Derby County.
The right-back, who joined from Eredivisie outfit NEC Nijmegen in the summer, was dismissed in the first period at Pride Park after picking up two bookings.
However, instead of letting the setback affect him, Pereira has displayed a determination to learn, to improve and to impress in his six appearances since.
The 23-year-old played a key role in the club’s recent matches against two of the division’s fancied teams in West Ham United and Southampton, and Brayann has been speaking of his desire to showcase his ability every time he pulls on a Baggies shirt.
He said: “It was a really bad start for me. I didn’t want my time here to start like that, but even before then I had never had a red card in my life.
“It happened, but it was how I reacted next. It’s always how you react to bad things which matters. Maybe I wanted to impress to show my quality, and everyone knows my quality so I had to stay calm after this.
“The team helped me a lot after the red card, speaking with me, saying it’s nothing now, and this helped me to react how I have. I’ve learnt from it and I’m focusing on being better and better every week. I really want to show my best level.
“I reacted well to that setback and I am now playing 90 minutes every week. I am happy, but I feel I can do more and become better. But I like how the team are playing, we have good facilities, everyone helps me to adapt, and I’m happy here. You need to smile because it’s not always easy to in life.
“It’s been a good start and we’re in a good position, but we want to win every game. When we go on the pitch, we go to get three points and we will do this for the club, fans, and for ourselves also.”
