Albion suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Black Country derby on Sunday afternoon.
Fer Lopez’s second-half finish ensured Wolves took the Sky Bet Championship spoils.
The hosts had the better of the early stages as Max O’Leary was called into action numerous times during the first 30 minutes.
The Baggies goalkeeper’s most notable save was to, quite incredibly, tip Nasser Djiga’s goal-bound header on to the crossbar. He also stopped a Mateus Mane effort and excellently diverted Marshall Munetsi’s near-post header around the post.
Albion threatened through counter-attacks and the occasional set-piece, however they could only manage one notable attempt, with Jose Sa keeping out Isaac Price’s free-kick - leaving it goalless at half-time.
But Wolves opened the scoring five minutes after the restart. Lopez took advantage of a defensive error to slot home and give them the lead.
James Morrison turned to his bench, introducing Rabby Nzingoula and Barney Stewart. His men did try and hit back, yet Price hit one free-kick over and Callum Styles saw another diverted away by the wall.
Styles volleyed an attempt wide during the final stages, while JJ Morgan also had a low shot comfortably gathered. Ultimately Albion’s late pressure came to nothing, consigning the visitors to a narrow defeat.
