Albion were dealt a late blow as they were beaten by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening.

Jordan Ayew slid the Foxes in front before Karlan Grant’s leveller during the first half.

Although the visitors had their opportunities to grab a winner, the Sky Bet Championship points went to the hosts as Abdul Fatawu scored a winner in added time.

City opened the scoring from the game’s first real chance, completing a slick passing move through Ayew’s 18th-minute finish.

But the Baggies hit back quickly and, after Mikey Johnston had seen a header cleared off the line, they found an equaliser. Alex Mowatt’s through ball sent Grant one-on-one, and the forward superbly slotted home for 1-1.

Albion were in the ascendancy yet couldn’t find another ahead of half-time, George Campbell’s volley - which went past the post - was the closest they came.

The teams exchanged chances following the restart, as Leicester’s Ben Nelson nodded just off-target from a corner and Isaac Price side-footed over.

Price then cracked the post with a much sweeter strike in an entertaining spell that also saw Jakub Stolarczyk somehow keep out Aune Heggebø’s close-range effort when he looked destined to net.

Albion kept up the barrage, however City’s goalkeeper stopped Mowatt and Johnston shots, and produced an excellent save to deny Campbell’s header.

But it was the Foxes who would go on to win the game, as winger Fatawu fired past Josh Griffiths in the 95th minute to secure a late victory for the hosts.
