Albion’s youngsters were defeated down on the south coast by Southampton on Saturday.
Chay Thompson’s team produced an eye-catching showing in the opening period and had a number of opportunities to take the lead.
Ethan Smith saw one effort cleared off the line and a header go wide, with Remar McNeil unable to convert a further chance.
The Saints made the young Baggies pay midway through the opening period. Luke Hawe scored the contest’s first goal, but Albion weren’t behind for too long.
Shane Gompe equalised just nine minutes later, firing home from just inside the penalty area at the second attempt after his initial strike was blocked following a short corner.
Danyal Iqbal could’ve put the visitors 2-1 up in the early part of the second 45, but, unfortunately, blazed over the bar.
The home team took control from the hour mark and restored their lead 66 minutes in courtesy of substitute Tyler Lemon.
Hawe then scored his second and Southampton’s third five minutes from the end to wrap up the points.
