Swansea City 2-2 (p) Albion

Albion celebrate vs Swansea.

Albion claimed a penalty shootout win over Swansea City to book their place in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round on Sunday afternoon.

Ji-Sung Eom opened the scoring for the hosts, leaving Josh Maja to grab a visiting equaliser in normal time, before efforts from captain Jed Wallace and Zeidane Inoussa sent the tie to penalties.

And it was the Baggies who prevailed in the shootout, with young winger Ollie Bostock scoring the decisive spot-kick to claim a fourth-round place.

The much-changed Baggies made a bright start to proceedings in South Wales. Striker Daryl Dike, making his first start since the final game of 2024/25, was slipped through before he arrowed a curling effort just over.

Still, it was the hosts who arguably had the best opportunities of the half. Žan Vipotnik glanced a header off target, before Melker Widell sent a fierce volley wide.

Then on the counter, Northern Ireland international Isaac Price found room to shoot for Albion but couldn’t place his effort on target in the half’s final chance of note.

Swansea came close just after the break when Kaelan Casey headed wide from point-blank range, and took the lead as Eom found space inside the visitors’ final-third to curl a sumptuous effort into the top corner.

The Baggies didn’t take long to respond, though, as Callum Styles’ corner left Maja to prod home his second of the campaign – ensuring the tie went to extra-time.

Aside from Malick Yalcouye hitting the post for the hosts, extra-time had little in the way of scoring opportunities until the Baggies looked to have notched the winner in the 107th minute.

Winger Bostock picked out the run of Wallace who, on his return from injury, slammed home to send the away end into buoyant celebrations.

It didn't prove to be decisive, though. Swansea still had one further response, and in near identical fashion to the goal four minutes earlier, had substitute Inoussa waiting on the edge of the box to send the tie to penalties courtesy of a fine finish into the bottom corner.

Josh Griffiths made a crucial save to deny Bobby Wales in the shootout, before Bostock calmly stepped up to send the Baggies through.
