Celebrating Cheryl: A Special Birthday Made Possible Thanks to Mega Riches’ Generosity

Thanks to the generous donation of hospitality tickets in The Richardson for the West Bromwich Albion vs Southampton fixture, we were delighted to gift a truly unforgettable experience to one of our remarkable volunteers, Cheryl – made all the more special as it coincided with her 70th birthday.

At The Albion Foundation, our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. Their commitment, compassion, and community spirit ensure that our work reaches those who need it most. Cheryl represents the very best of that ethos. Week after week, she offers her time, energy and warmth to support our programmes, and it was a privilege to recognise her dedication in such a memorable way.

Every Wednesday, Cheryl can be found at The Hawthorns Hub – our friendly, welcoming group that meets at the stadium to bring people together for conversation, company and connection. The Hub provides a safe space for local residents to enjoy a chat, a hot drink and a sense of belonging, helping to reduce isolation and loneliness within our community. Cheryl is at the heart of that atmosphere. Her kindness, empathy and ability to make everyone feel included help make the Hub the uplifting space it has become.

But her contribution doesn’t stop there. Cheryl is also one of our most reliable event volunteers, always ready to step in, lend a hand and support the Foundation at key moments throughout the year. And on every home matchday, she takes her place with a smile to support our Baggies Bonanza lottery, helping raise vital funds by selling tickets to fans across The Hawthorns. Her enthusiasm, reliability and willingness to go above and beyond make her an invaluable part of the matchday experience.

That is why this hospitality experience, kindly donated by Mega Riches, felt like the perfect way to say thank you. Their generosity created lasting memories not only for Cheryl but for her son Luke too – both lifelong Albion supporters who have followed the club through decades of highs, lows and everything in between. For them, enjoying superb food, fantastic hospitality, comfortable seats, a lively atmosphere and even a surprise half-time birthday cake was an occasion they will treasure.

Reflecting on the experience, Cheryl shared:

“Opting to ‘work’ and support Foundation Day on the weekend of my Big Birthday, what an incredible surprise to be gifted tickets in hospitality for the Southampton game. Lifelong Baggies’ fans, my son and I had an incredible evening with superb food, a great atmosphere, comfy stadium seats, a halftime birthday cake, and a decent result on the pitch!

This kindest of gestures made me feel so special, so appreciated, so loved. Thank you so much Mega Riches and The Albion Foundation.”

We are thrilled Cheryl enjoyed her special day. Her kindness, passion and selflessness embody what The Albion Foundation stands for. Volunteers like her make our community stronger, brighter and better connected — and we are incredibly grateful for everything she does.

Here’s to Cheryl: a true star of our Foundation family, celebrated in the best possible way thanks to the generosity of Mega Riches.
