Ryan Mason has offered an update on the fitness of five members of his first-team squad.
The boss revealed some disappointing news regarding young defender Alex Williams, stating the academy graduate has had surgery on an ankle injury sustained while away with Wales’ Under-21s team.
Mason also said Krystian Bielik, signed in the summer from Birmingham City, has been training with the senior group, but trio Karlan Grant, Tammer Bany and Daryl Dike remain sidelined.

The boss said: “Krystian started training with us this week. That’s really positive and it will be good to have him back in the squad after a period of time out.
“We’re assessing Karlan Grant daily. Tammer Bany and Daryl Dike are still injured, but they’re a little bit closer to returning to training. They’re not with the group yet, but Karlan will probably be out a little longer.
“Unfortunately, Alex picked up quite a bad injury while he was away with Wales’ Under-21s. He had to have surgery on his ankle and he’ll be out for a period of time.
“It’s disappointing for Alex and for us. The game before the international break against Stoke he came on, so to pick up that injury just a few days later while on international duty is disappointing.
“We’ll support him and I’m sure he’ll come back stronger and a better player.”
