One of SK Brann’s most influential players in recent years, Felix Horn Myhre’s arrival in England has understandably been met with anticipation by the Baggies faithful.
With 71 goal involvements from 181 appearances (32 goals and 39 assists) in the Eliteserien - especially when taking into account Myhre’s position in the middle of the park - excitement is fully warranted around how the 27-year-old will suit Albion’s style of play.
It’s no surprise Felix plays with such industry and positivity, given his upbringing in Norway’s eye-catching capital city, Oslo - which is naturally where the journey started just five miles from the country’s epicentre at local side, Vestre Aker.
Former Landslaget international Jan-Derek Sørensen coached the aspiring Myhre in his younger years, and those lessons gave the midfielder a solid grounding in the game.
This was exemplified when the exciting talent made his senior debut at just 16-years-old for Ullern IF in the Norwegian Football Cup. Such form didn’t go without its admirers from afar, as trials with German outfit Freiburg and Spanish giants Barcelona highlighted the direction Felix was heading in.
Inevitably, several successful campaigns followed at the-then second-tier outfit, which is why opportunities were paved in the top flight of his homeland.
Vålerenga provided said chance, with an Eliteserien debut following at the age of 18. Just under 120 appearances later across their first and second teams - either side of a loan move to Bodø Glimt - and Myhre was ready to begin a memorable spell at ‘The Pride of Bergen’.
In 2021, Myhre made Brann Stadion his new home - settling in during his maiden campaign at the club before an influential 2022 saw the energetic midfielder add elegance and potency to his end product.
An impressive 25 goal contributions (13 goals, 12 assists) helped Brann bounce back immediately from relegation the previous campaign by lifting the league (OBOS-ligaen) and cup (NM Cup) double, returning to Norway’s top flight in the process for the 2023 campaign.
Felix continued impacting matches after promotion, playing a part in 15 final-third acts (six goals, nine assists) while also competing against European opposition in the qualifying stages of the Champions, Europa, and Conference League between 2023-2025.
His level had risen to that of an established first-team player, which is why - having already donned the national colours between under-15, 16, 17, 19, 20 and 21s level - Myhre was handed a senior bow against Kazakhstan in September 2024.
On his second outing for Røde, Hvite, Blå (Red, White and Blue), the midfielder found the net in a 2-1 victory over Austria - racking up a further five games since his maiden appearance on the international stage.
Brann was where Felix made his mark in senior football, spending just under five years in Norway’s second-largest city and playing 181 matches - 121 of which were on the same field as current Baggies target man, Aune Heggebø.
They were largely successful outings, too, as a 2.11 PPG (points per game) ratio proves over more than a century of matches.
Aune’s native compatriot played against some of Europe’s best teams between 2025-2026 in the Europa League and, like his reunited club team-mate is doing now, embarked on a first stint out of Norwegian football with the Albion.
Excitement around a new adventure will be high for Myhre ahead of donning the famous navy-blue-and-white stripes and, in the prime years of his career, the midfielder will be confident of delivering his best football in front of his new supporters at The Hawthorns.
