Pre-season 2026/27 | Albion 1-3 Notts County

Barney Stewart plays in the red away kit

A Baggies XI gained more valuable pre-season minutes despite a 3-1 defeat to Notts County at The Fitlife Foods Performance Centre on Saturday.

Matt Ingram, Krystian Bielik, Nat Phillips, Jayson Molumby, Cole Deeming, Ollie Bostock and Barney Stewart all got through significant game-time, while Mikey Johnston also made his return from injury by playing in the first 45.

The away side took a 26th-minute lead in the lunchtime kick-off thanks to Jack Evans’ curled strike from the edge of the box.

But the Baggies hit back almost instantly when attacker Barney Stewart converted a first-time finish, levelling the game up before half-time.

Souleyman Mandey plays in the away kit
Souleyman Mandey had a goal ruled out for offside.

Following the interval, the hosts had an effort disallowed as Souleyman Mandey netted, only to see the assistant referee’s flag raised for offside.

County goalkeeper James Belshaw then made a string of saves midway through the second period to keep out Stewart, Jayson Molumby and Jack Bray.

After surviving that difficult spell of Baggies pressure, the visitors scored twice before the end. Luke Browne and Emile Acquah both struck for County inside the final 15 minutes to claim the victory and inflict a first pre-season defeat on Albion.

Albion: Ingram, Mohammed (Pinnington 76), Bielik, Phillips (Iddrisa 87), Crowther, Johnston (Mandey 46), Molumby, Deeming, Bostock, Stewart, Bray (French 76).
