Isaac Price and Northern Ireland were beaten 1-0 by Slovakia in their penultimate FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday evening.
The hosts had two goals disallowed in Košice before Lechia Gdańsk’s Tomáš Bobček dealt the Green and White Army a hammer blow in the 91st minute.
Price completed the whole contest for Michael O’Neill’s side, who are still guaranteed a final opportunity to claim a place at next summer’s tournament through the Nations League play-off route.
Elsewhere, Tammer Bany wasn’t named in the matchday squad for Jordan’s friendly fixture against Tunisia.
Jamal Sellami’s outfit were beaten 3-2 in Tunis, as an 85th-minute winner from FC København winger Elias Achouri ensured the hosts were victorious.
Bany will hope feature in Tuesday’s match against Mali at the Stade Olympique Hammadi-Agrebi.
