Albion trio in action on final day of international break

Barney Stewart celebrates scoring a goal for Scotland's U21 side

Three Albion players featured for their countries on the final day of the first international break of the 2026/27 season.

Striker Barney Stewart had a night to remember for Scotland’s Under-21 side, scoring the first, setting up the second and completing 90 minutes of the Tartan Army’s 2-0 win in Bulgaria in their final European Championships qualifier.

The 22-year-old fired in the opener from distance after 32 minutes at Stadion Georgi Benkovski – his third goal for his nation this break following a brace against Azerbaijan last week. The forward then went on to lay the ball on a plate for Dundee’s Bobby Wales to finish into an empty net in the dying stages.

Scotland finished third in Group B, one point behind Czechia and eight behind winner Portugal.

Captain George Campbell started for the USA who secured a narrow 1-0 triumph over Canada in a friendly.

The Baggies defender played just under 75 minutes before being replaced by New York Red Bulls’ Adri Mehmeti at Allianz Field in Minnesota.

Justin Ellis scored the only goal of the contest – a strike which sealed a fourth straight triumph in the international window for the States.

Elsewhere, midfielder Tammer Bany was introduced to the action in the 65th minute of Jordan’s goalless draw with Venezuela in a friendly.

Albion’s number 23 replaced Yousef Qashi at King Abdullah II Stadium in Amman on a night where neither outfit managed to find a winner.
