Attacker JJ Morgan believes Albion’s 4-1 pre-season victory over Bromley reflected the success of their week-long training camp in Portugal.
The summer signing netted for the second game running in Friday night’s warm-up clash, curling a lovely effort beyond the visiting goalkeeper to break the deadlock in the Algarve.
Morgan believes he’s “settled in” after an enjoyable trip with his new team-mates
And the 20-year-old was pleased to see the hard work put in during the week pay off in front an impressive away following at the Estadio da Nora.
“It was a good performance,” said JJ.
“We put into practice all the things we’ve been trying to work on through the week.
“It was good for the fitness to play in the heat and get another win, so we’re happy.
“I couldn’t get the ball out of my feet (for the first goal), so I thought I might’ve taken too long.
“Then I just used the defender to bend the ball around him and put it in the top corner.
“My first week here was hard.
“The senior lads let me know that I’ve got to keep my feet grounded, but the banter’s been really good, I’ve settled in really well and have been making good friends.
“The main thing I’ve learned since being at Albion is that I can’t take my foot off the gas.
“At times, I’m probably guilty of fazing in and out of the game a bit but all of the coaching staff have kept me honest and have made sure I’ve not slowed with anything I’ve done.
“Friday night was another good building block. We wanted to top the week off with a win and we’ve done it quite emphatically so it’s been really good.”
