James Morrison said his side “weren’t at the races” in their 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon.
The boss was handed his first home loss as Head Coach by August Priske’s first-half penalty, which earned Blues the Sky Bet Championship spoils.
Morrison claimed he wants to see more from his squad - and has challenged them to "iron things out" before their midweek trip to Wrexham.
“In the first half, I didn’t feel we had enough aggression and weren’t on the front foot," Morrison told WBA TV. "There were times we got through, and we couldn’t capitalise on the chances we had.
“They created chances in different ways, through balls into the box and set plays, but we needed to be better than what we were.
“In the first half, it could’ve gone either way. They had some chances, but our defensive pressure and structure was wrong - we caused ourselves problems. We got to half-time to iron that out, and I wasn’t happy then. It was another performance where I didn’t recognise my side.
“With their results through this season, it’s always been small margins in the game where it’s one goal either way, and they have a strong back-line.
"(In the second-half) I felt it was all us, and they were just on the counter-attack, which is what you have to do when you’re away from home sometimes.
“We had to put better balls in the box to put them under more pressure, that final pass. We needed more aggression across the pitch, in the tackle, to run forwards and run into the box. We need to get back to work quickly and iron things out.
“We’ll look through it again, but the two defeats make it feel worse than it is. We have to get back to winning ways quickly, because I don’t like to lose, especially not against the teams we have.
“We’ll iron a few things out, and tell some of the players they need to up our game - too many of them weren’t at the races.”
