The Hawthorns plays host to maiden Premier League Awards

Our Premier League end of year celebration.

The Hawthorns was the host of The Albion Foundation’s first-ever Premier League Awards on Wednesday night.

The Albion Foundation delivers three different Premier League programmes, Premier League Inspires, Premier League Kicks and Premier League Primary Stars – which are all funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund.

Wednesday night’s event was a way to celebrate all three programmes, and the people that help to shape them – one of those is Mentoring and Interventions Manager Eleisha Edwards – who was delighted by the evening.

“I think it was a really unforgettable evening,” Eleisha said. “It’s the first time we’ve ever done anything like that for the Premier League programmes and I think it was a real success.

“Everybody seemed happy, we were able to celebrate the young people, celebrate the stuff they’ve worked on, and all of their hard work. It was a nice environment.

“Everybody seemed to really enjoy the night and it made it really good for us.”

Each award was given for exemplifying either a Foundation or Premier League value, with both participants and coaches celebrated for their efforts throughout the academic year, something Eleisha believes is incredibly important.

“It’s important to be able to let everybody know about the hard work and give them some recognition because they don’t get that very often,” Eleisha said. “It’s important that the stories of the young people that we work with get told.

“We’d like to say congratulations to all of the award winners for their engagement, their success, the commitments to their programmes. Thank you to everyone for coming and allowing us to share that moment with you.

“I think the awards will be a massive boost and a motivation for everything that they do. They can look forward to moments like this and hopefully we can double the amount of awards that we give next year.

“We hope that it continues to grow and that it’s a great success for the future.”
