West Bromwich Albion are delighted to welcome Dave Bowler back to The Hawthorns as Club Historian.
The highly-respected author and historian previously spent two decades in the communications department, writing the club’s matchday programme, Albion News, and co-commentating on the WBA Radio airwaves.
His new role will see him again chronicling Albion’s rich history, with the club marking 125 years at The Hawthorns this coming season, before celebrating 150 years as a football club in 2028.
Dave will be on hand to regularly document the club’s journey in his unique, entertaining and informative style, uncovering all aspects of Albion’s past – from its formation to the present day, and everything else in between.

Managing Director, Mark Miles, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Dave back to The Hawthorns.
“Dave’s knowledge of the football club’s history is second to none and he will be invaluable in helping us celebrate our upcoming milestones, with the 125th anniversary of The Hawthorns almost upon us in September.
“Like all good historians, Dave is a stickler for getting things right, and in his new role he’ll no doubt cover unchartered areas of our past – but it’s his flair as a writer that I know fans will enjoy, as he casts new light on our fascinating history for the next generation and beyond.”
Club Historian, Dave Bowler, added: “I’m very pleased to be able to take on this role at the club at such an important time in the Albion’s history with so many big milestones in the offing.
“History is not merely the events of the dim and distant past, we are making it every day, so the project we are looking at will take us all the way back to the days of Billy Bassett and beyond, and right up to date with the new era under Ryan Mason.
“It’s so important that any football club documents its history properly but for so many of them, the here and now is so demanding that the past tends to fall by the wayside. That Albion is making this commitment to telling its own story properly, in a number of different ways, is a thrilling prospect. I hope that over the next few years we can build something unique, that no other football club can match – because no other football club is like the Albion.”
