Callum Styles & Mikey Johnston go head-to-head in FIFA World Cup qualifier

Callum Styles in action for Hungary in Ireland

Baggies team-mates Mikey Johnston and Callum Styles went head-to-head on the international stage on Saturday as Republic of Ireland and Hungary played out a 2-2 draw in FIFA World Cup qualifying.

Styles completed the whole encounter for Hungary at the Aviva Stadium, claiming an assist for the first goal of the night which was scored by Barnabas Varga after just two minutes.

Roland Sallai then added a second for the visitors 13 minutes later, with Callum's side heading in 2-0 up at the break.

Evan Ferguson pulled one back for Ireland early on in the second period, before Sallai was shown a straight red moments later.

Johnston, who started the night on the bench, was introduced to the action on 78 minutes, replacing Sammie Szmodics.

The hosts pushed for a leveller and finally found it in the third minute of stoppage time - Adam Idah rescuing a dramatic point.

The result leaves both nations on one point each in Group F after the opening round of fixtures. Elsewhere in the same group, Portugal won 5-0 in Armenia. Ireland and Johnston travel to Armenia for their next match on Tuesday, with Styles and Hungary taking on Portugal in Budapest on the same night.
