Three Baggies youngsters gained more senior experience over the weekend.

Winger Akeel Higgins completed the first 45 minutes of Exeter City’s 1-1 draw at home to Wigan Athletic in Sky Bet League One.

The Albion man was replaced at the break by Jack Aitchison on an afternoon where the visitors ended the opening period 1-0 up courtesy of Callum Wright’s goal.

But the Grecians equalised in the second 45, with Jayden Wareham hitting the target.

The result leaves Higgins’ team 19th in the table after 15 matches, two points clear of the danger zone.

Midfielder Harry Whitwell played the entirety of Forest Green Rovers’ entertaining 3-2 victory at Aldershot Town in the Enterprise National League on Saturday.

Efforts from Kyle McAllister and Jayden Clarke put Forest Green 2-0 up at the interval, before McAllister added a third just after the hour.

The hosts pulled two goals back through Ciaran Gilligan and Kwame Thomas, but Whitwell’s outfit held on to claim three points.

Forest Green are fifth in the table, four points behind leaders Carlisle United who have played one game more.

Finally, defender Michael Parker came on at the start of the second period for Hereford who suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Southport in the Enterprise National League North.

Parker replaced Matt Preston with the Bulls already two goals down following strikes from Daniel Lloyd-McGoldrick and Jordan Slew.

Southport did have Callum Edwards dismissed for two yellows in the first half, and the hosts made it 2-1 with five left on the clock when Harley Hamilton bundled the ball into the bottom corner.

However, they couldn’t find a leveller and finished the weekend in 19th position, one point above the relegation zone.
