Albion Women are excited to announce the signing of Abbey Jones from Durham Women FC.

The highly-rated attacking midfielder featured 14 times for the WSL 2 side last season, including 10 second-tier appearances.

Abbey came through the ranks at a host of East and West Midlands clubs but, prior to joining Durham, she spent four years at the University of Connecticut in the USA, where she was a regular goalscorer and playmaker who captained the side during her senior year.

Jones has also been recognised by the Young Lionesses at under-15, under-16 and under-18 level.

Abbey said: "I'm so excited to get started here and meet all the girls and the coaches. I think the ambition of the club, wanting to get promoted next season with dominant football, is really appealing.

"I had great conversations with Martyn and Shev, so I think the style will suit me. I'd say I'm creative, I like to score and assist goals - like everyone does - and I work hard out of possession.

"I've played with Liv Rabjohn before and we've kept in contact, so I'm excited to be back playing with her and it's nice to have a friendly face when you join a new club.

"I played a lot of football locally before I went off to the States, which I loved. I came back and went to Durham to get WSL 2 experience and now I'm really happy to be here!"
