West Bromwich Albion will be on the hunt for three big Sky Bet Championship points when they host Southampton on Wednesday night in what will be James Morrison's first game back in charge as interim head coach at The Hawthorns (ko 7.45pm).
The Baggies produced a determined performance at Sheffield United on Saturday, earning a 1-1 draw thanks to George Campbell's late equaliser.
Visitors, the Saints, enjoyed a week off from Championship action last weekend, but enter the game on a high having claimed a top-flight scalp against Fulham to progress to the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup.
The side from the south coast claimed a 3-2 triumph in the reverse fixture in December. They led 3-0 at the break following efforts from Leo Scienza and Adam Armstrong (2). Albion pulled two goals back in the second period through Karlan Grant and Nat Phillips, but they were unable to find a leveller.
Southampton game dedicated to Her Game Too
The match with Southampton is the closest men’s fixture to International Women’s Day, which was celebrated around the world on Sunday, March 8.
Albion are, therefore, dedicating Wednesday night’s game to Her Game Too - an award-winning organisation consisting of female supporters who are passionate about tackling sexism and promoting gender equality in sport.
The players will be wearing warm-up t-shirts to raise awareness, and there will also be a special pre-match playlist, content on the stadium big screens and in the programme, as well as a half-time interview with co-ambassador Lizzie Whale.
The Baggies partnered with Her Game Too on International Women’s Day in 2022 - when Albion Women played at The Hawthorns for the very first time. Ever since, they have held dedicated fixtures for both men’s and women’s teams to mark the campaign.
Their team of ambassadors and advocates work with the club and offer support to fellow female fans who may experience harassment or abuse at a match or online.

The opposition
Southampton head to The Hawthorns as the Sky Bet Championship's in-form side. Unbeaten in eight league games, Tonda Eckert's Saints have won six and drawn two in that spell, scoring 18 goals along the way.
And it's not just their second-tier form that's giving Wednesday's visitors confidence. They knocked Premier League Fulham out of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon. Ross Stewart's late penalty proved the difference at Craven Cottage, sending Southampton into the quarter-finals for the third time in six seasons.
The Saints have had very mixed fortunes on the road in 2025/26, winning six, drawing five and losing seven of their 18 games. However, they have won their last three Championship away matches, coming away victorious from Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City and Stoke City.
Despite their recent good form, it hasn't always been a positive campaign for the St Mary's club, who found themselves occupying 21st place after 13 games. Seven defeats and just two wins in what was an incredibly disappointing start to the season saw Will Still's brief stint in charge brought to an end at the start of November.
Former under-21s boss Eckert stepped up in the interim and oversaw four wins in five matches before taking the reins on a permanent basis.
The German has previously worked as an assistant manager at Barnsley and Genoa, although the majority of his background is in the academies of the Bundesliga's top clubs.
Under Eckert's stewardship, Southampton have won 11, drawn five and lost just four of his 20 matches in charge.

Recent record on home soil against the Saints
Albion 0-0 Southampton, May 2024
The Baggies and the Saints played out a goalless draw in the first leg of the Sky Bet Championship play-off semi-final at the end of the 2023/24 season. Both teams had opportunities to score at The Hawthorns, but, ultimately, it was an afternoon where both defences won the battle.
Albion 0-2 Southampton, February 2024
The visitors secured all three points in the West Midlands in the middle of February in 2024. Ryan Fraser scored after 14 minutes before David Brooks wrapped up the win with an effort 17 minutes from time.
Albion 3-0 Southampton, April 2021
Albion produced an impressive display to brush Southampton aside towards the end of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign. Two goals in three minutes from Matheus Pereira (p) and Matt Phillips put the hosts in a commanding half-time position. Callum Robinson then made it 3-0 with just over 20 minutes remaining to seal a deserved triumph. Check out the highlights below.
