West Bromwich Albion are up against Hull City at The Hawthorns in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon (ko 3pm).

The Baggies head into the tussle with the Tigers having picked up consecutive 1-1 draws at Sheffield United on Saturday and then Southampton on home soil on Wednesday.

Hull are hunting down a spot in the play-offs and claimed a big three points at top-six rivals Wrexham on Tuesday night. Sergej Jakirović's team won 2-1 thanks to efforts from Joe Gelhardt and Lewis Koumas.

Albion were narrowly beaten 1-0 in the reverse fixture back in December. The only goal of the game was scored in the seventh minute of added time at the end of the first half as Oli McBurnie converted from the penalty spot.

WBA Matchday Home 2526

The opposition

Hull City are enjoying a terrific campaign and head to The Hawthorns sat comfortably inside the top six of the Sky Bet Championship.

The Tigers, who escaped relegation to Sky Bet league One on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign, are dreaming of a return to the Premier League for the first time since the 2016/17 term.

They bounced back from consecutive defeats to Ipswich and Millwall by recording a 2-1 triumph on Tuesday night at play-off rivals Wrexham, meaning they'll arrive in the West Midlands sat fifth on 63 points.

Their away form has been incredibly impressive. Saturday's guests have won six of their last seven on the road, collecting 33 points from 18 encounters. Only automatic-promotion chasing Middlesbrough have won more points on their travels than Hull, and the Tigers will be determined to add three more to their tally this weekend.

Sergej Jakirović is City's boss and has been since June 2025. The 49-year-old, who represented Bosnia & Herzegovina in his playing days, has also managed in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Turkey with a number of different clubs.

He'll take charge of his 41st Hull fixture at The Hawthorns and has a record of 19 wins, eight draws and 13 defeats.

Memorable meeting

James Morrison was one of the goalscorers when Albion defeated Hull City 3-1 at The Hawthorns in a Premier League fixture in January 2017.

Robert Snodgrass' effort gave the visitors a one-goal lead at the break, but the Baggies hit back in the second period and scored three times to secure three top-flight points.

Chris Brunt, Gareth McAuley and Morrison were all on target in front of the Brummie Road End. Check out the highlights below.

Recent record on home soil against the Tigers

Albion 1-1 Hull City, March 2025

Almost exactly one year ago, Albion extended their unbeaten run to six with a 1-1 draw against the Tigers at The Hawthorns. Isaac Price's first goal for the club - a wonderful volley from outside the box - handed the Baggies a well-deserved lead. However, the visitors drew level as Abu Kamara finished from close range to ensure the spoils were shared. Check out the highlights below.

Albion 3-1 Hull City, November 2023

Jed Wallace capitalised on a defensive mistake to give his side a 14th-minute lead back in 2023. Lewie Coyle drew Hull level just before half-time, but an outstanding second half saw Albion over the line. Grady Diangana created for both Matt Phillips and Semi Ajayi within six minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

Albion 5-2 Hull City, August 2022

This emphatic victory marked the Baggies' first league win of the 2022/23 campaign. A Callum Elder own goal was the difference at the break before Albion came flying out of the blocks in the second period. John Swift, Darnell Furlong and Karlan Grant made it 4-0 to the Albion by the 70th minute. Oscar Estupinan netted either side of a Dara O'Shea strike as the Tigers fell to their first defeat of the season.

Foundation Day 2026

The showdown with the Tigers marks this season's dedicated Foundation Day. This year’s occasion will shine a light on the Cancer Kickers Programme, celebrating its impact and raising awareness of cancer, early intervention, and the power of staying active throughout treatment and recovery.

A spotlight on Cancer Kickers

Cancer affects one in two people during their lifetime, and the Foundation’s Cancer Kickers initiative offers a safe, supportive space for those living with or recovering from cancer. Participants build physical and mental wellbeing, regain confidence, and connect with others who understand their journey. Foundation Day will bring the programme to the forefront, uniting the Albion family to raise awareness and vital funds to sustain this life-changing work.

Prostate Cancer & Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust

We’re teaming up with Prostate Cancer UK and the NHS to raise awareness of prostate cancer, the most common cancer in the UK. 1 in 8 men will receive a diagnosis, and your risk doubles if you’re Black. Every year, around 10,000 men in the midlands are diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Check your risk of prostate cancer

There is reason for hope. The new National Cancer Plan for England sets out a clear ambition: by 2035, three in four people diagnosed with cancer will survive at least five years or live well beyond their diagnosis. Reaching that goal means earlier diagnosis, faster treatment and more personalised care.

The National Cancer Plan

Come and speak with the team in the fanzone to find out more.

Pre‑match: Awareness, action and solidarity

The Fanzone will open at 12pm, with a strong focus on health, support and early detection.

  • NHS cancer nurse specialists from Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust will host an activation area, offering prostate cancer risk checks based on age, family history and ethnicity. They will also be available to discuss wider cancer risks and answer questions from supporters, so everyone is welcome and encouraged to stop by, ask questions, and get clear information from experts.

  • Representatives from Prostate Cancer UK, NHS and Trust in Care will be on hand to provide guidance and support.

  • In a powerful show of solidarity, former Albion favourite Andy Johnson will have his head shaved live in the Fanzone, in partnership with BarberBoss, raising funds and awareness for the cause. Supporters are encouraged to gather, cheer him on and donate. Click here for more details.

  • Foundation staff and Cancer Kickers participants will be collecting donations around the stadium before kick-off and again at half-time.

  • Fans can also support by taking part in the Foundation's matchday lottery, Baggies Bonanza, with tickets available online or from sellers around The Hawthorns. This fixture will be the final bonus prize fixture of the season, so keep your eyes peeled for the bonus prize!

  • Cancer Kickers participants will proudly serve as flag bearers as the teams walk out, marking a poignant moment for everyone involved.

  • WBA & Hull City players will be led out by NHS nurses as a show of solidarity.

Half-time: Cancer Kickers vs Albion Legends

The interval will see the action return to the pitch as the Cancer Kickers take on a team of Albion legends in a walking football fixture. The legends’ line-up will include Bob Taylor, Andy Hunt, Daryl Burgess, Mark Grew, Kevin Kent, Joe Mayo, Gary Hackett, Brendon Batson and the iconic Tony “Bomber” Brown.

Post‑match: Signed shirts auction

After the final whistle, all match‑worn shirts will be signed and auctioned on the club website, with 100% of proceeds going directly to The Albion Foundation to support programmes like Cancer Kickers.

Supporters can also donate at any time by texting TAF(AMOUNT) to 70470.
