Albion return to action at The Hawthorns on Tuesday night against Derby County in the first round of the Carabao Cup (ko 7.45pm).
Ryan Mason's men made the perfect start to the term over the weekend, beating Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in front of their own supporters in the Sky Bet Championship.
The visitors' second-tier campaign also began on Saturday, with the Rams slipping to a 3-1 setback at Stoke City.
Derby and the Baggies met as recently as August 2022 in the League Cup when a Louis Sibley strike was enough to earn a narrow victory for the side the from the East Midlands.

The opposition
Derby County have high hopes for the new season and will be keen to to have a much calmer year than their previous one.
The Rams were locked into a relegation battle for the majority of the 2024/25 term, but made a miraculous recovery to save their Sky Bet Championship skin.
John Eustace's side collected 20 points from their last 11 matches, winning six, drawing three and losing just two - results which dragged them up from bottom of the table to a final position of 19th.
Despite their late defeat at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday, the former Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers gaffer will be determined to deliver a much-improved campaign and Derby have made a number of eye-catching signings in the summer in an attempt to help Eustace do just that.
The 45-year-old from the West Midlands was appointed in February and has a record of six wins, six defeats and three draws from 15 fixtures in charge.
Tuesday's guests have never won the League Cup, but did reach the last four on two separate occasions in 1967/68 and 2008/09.

Memorable meeting
Albion secured a 2-1 victory over then top-flight Derby County in the first leg of a second-round League Cup tie in September 2000.
Deon Burton's first-half strike put the Rams ahead, but Neil Clement smashed home a penalty to draw the Baggies level in the opening minutes of the second period.
Haracio Carbonari was sent off nine minutes from time and Albion jumped on the chance to take full advantage. Richard Sneekes unleashed an absolute rocket from range to seal an away triumph.
Sadly for the Baggies though, Derby earned a 4-2 win in the reverse leg and progressed to the third round.

Recent record on home soil against the Rams
Albion 1-3 Derby County, April 2025
The Rams claimed a huge win at The Hawthorns on their way to securing Sky Bet Championship safety towards the end of last season. Goals from Ebou Adams and Jerry Yates had the visitors in control at the break, but Adam Armstong halved the deficit with a neat finish with 20 to go. Derby weren't to be deterred though and substitute Nathanial Mendez-Laing wrapped up the points late on.
Albion 0-0 Derby County, September 2021
The two teams played out a goalless draw in the Sky Bet Championship in September 2021. Both had opportunities to score what would've been a decisive goal, but it turned out to a be night where defences came out on top.
Albion 2-0 Derby County, July 2020
Slaven Bilic's Baggies earned three crucial Sky Bet Championship points against Derby County in July 2020 - points which ultimately helped them win promotion to the Premier League that year. Grady Diangana finished confidently from close range in the first half before Dara O'Shea nodded in at the near post in the second to seal the victory. Rams midfielder Louis Sibley was also shown a red card in the final minute of the encounter.

How's that for a stat
Tuesday's tie between the Baggies and the Rams will be the seventh time the two teams have gone head-to-head in the League Cup. Derby have won five of the previous six, including the most recent at Pride Park in August 2022 (1-0).
Albion have won the League Cup once in their history. The Baggies defeated West Ham United 5-3 on aggregate in the 1966 final. Derby's best showing in the competition is a run to the semi-final in both 1967/68 and 2008/09.
One of the 13 matches Ryan Mason took charge of at Tottenham Hotspur was the 2021 Carabao Cup final. Spurs narrowly lost 1-0 to Manchester City at Wembley. As a player, the Baggies boss started the 2015 final where Spurs were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in the capital.
The Baggies will be determined to improve on their disappointing recent record against Derby. The Rams have won all of the last four meetings, with Albion claiming just one victory in the last 10 tussles in all competitions with Tuesday's visitors.
