Active Lifestyles

The Albion Foundation promotes active lifestyles, inspires a love of sport and teaches how the power of sport can make a difference.

Many of the Albion Foundation’s programmes encourage active lifestyles and offer a variety of ways for the people of Sandwell, regardless of their age or background, to become more active and improve their health.

On average, being obese deprives an individual of nine years of their life. 69% of adults in our local region are overweight which is higher than the UK average. Research has shown that more Year 6 children in Sandwell are overweight compared to the national average.

As well as our extensive range of programmes for juniors engaging in active lifestyles through football, we also offer a number of activities to encourage adults to live a healthier lifestyle. Fit Baggies, Fitness maintenance giving participants a range of sports to try and Active Greenspace Hubs are a range of opportunities across the region to engage adults in being more active and learning how to live healthier. Fit Baggies has supported around 950 people over five years and collectively they have shed at least 1,728 lbs with a 100% loss rate!

We always try to offer our programmes for free or at as lower cost as possible to reduce the barriers to participation for our local community. Your support helps us to widen the reach of our sessions across Sandwell and reach more people who need support in living more healthily. A donation of just £6.50 will fund a session to support a local person, or fundraising £760 will deliver a weekly 2-hour session for a whole month.
