Layton had his first taste of senior football during then 2023/24 season.
After being named on the first-team bench for Albion's Sky Bet Championship clash with QPR in October, the striker joined National League North side Brackley Town in November 2023 - playing four times before returning to The Hawthorns to make his senior Baggies debut as a substitute against Aldershot Town in January 2024.
A long-term injury cut his season short during the closing stages of the campaign, but the club exercised the option of a further year in Layton's contract to keep him with the Baggies for his recuperation.
Sadly, the 24/25 schedule followed the same trend as another long-term injury ruled him out for the season.
Love, who grew up in Tipton, is a player capable of playing across any of the attacking front three positions, but mainly gets played through the middle.
The towering target man possesses good ability on the ball, has an eye for goal and is a physical presence up front. At 6ft 4in, Love's height has aided several aspects of his game to allow team-mates to play off him or go direct into the forward in matches.
His first season as a scholar saw the striker net seven goals in 21 appearances during the 2021/22 U18 Premier League South campaign. Love made his first appearance off the bench for Albion's PL2 side in the same season, featuring against Reading at The Hawthorns in November 2021.
Layton finished his final year as a scholar with double-figures for the U18s - bagging an impressive 13 goals and an assist in 20 matches, as well as breaking his PL2 duck with a goal on the final day of the 22/23 season against Leeds.
His maiden term as a pro saw Love contribute five goals and two assists in the Premier League 2 format during the 23/24 campaign.
