Swansea City beat Albion 1-0 on New Year’s Day through Jay Fulton’s second-half strike.
The Swans earned the Sky Bet Championship points in South Wales, ensuring the Baggies started 2026 with a defeat.
There were a limited number of opportunities for both teams during a scrappy, goalless opening 45 minutes.
Joe Wildsmith tipped over Marko Stamenic’s early shot, and also comfortably kept out Josh Tymon’s free-kick.
Down the other end, Ousmane Diakite saw a central effort easily stopped before the period’s best chance arrived - Sam Iling-Junior’s powerful shot well saved by Swansea goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux.
After the break, Ben Cabango headed off-target among persistent Swansea pressure. But the Baggies navigated past that spell without conceding, and then created chances themselves.
At the second-half’s midway point, a swerving Karlan Grant strike was pushed away and Mikey Johnston’s near-post nod didn’t quite beat Vigouroux as Albion tried to break the deadlock.
The game switched again 15 minutes from time, though, when Fulton fired the Swans in front via a long-range attempt.
And it finished 1-0 in Swansea, with Albion unable to find an equaliser late on.
