Ryan Mason | We didn't deserve anything at Millwall

Ryan Mason is interviewed by WBA TV after Albion's defeat at Millwall

Ryan Mason accepted his Albion side deserved nothing from their showing at Millwall on Saturday afternoon.

The Baggies suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat on a day where their performance level fell below the standard expected of the team.

Goals from Jake Cooper, Femi Azeez and Zak Sturge were enough for the hosts to claim all three points and inflict just a third league defeat of the campaign on the Albion.

The boss admitted the display was a poor one in the capital.

The boss said: “It was disappointing. We didn’t deserve anything from the game. I think in every aspect they were better than us today."

“That’s something we need to accept, work on and improve because the performance was well below-par. There’s absolutely no excuses for us today.

“It’s disappointing to lose, but the feeling is disappointment because of how we lost. I can accept losing, but the nature of it today, we fell well below the standards that we demand at this club and we demand of ourselves and we have to change that.

“They were better than us, they’ve scored a worldy from 30 yards, probably in our best spell. But the feeling here was that we simply didn’t have enough today in every aspect.

“I want us to show more personality and more belief in what we’re doing, that’s something I need to get out of the players.

“It’s probably the worst we’ve felt in the two or three months I’ve been here because we didn’t deserve anything from the game.

“It’s a real shame we’ve given the fans that sort of performance and result. We’re so well supported, we’ve always felt that and we’ll always feel that and it’s our responsibility to repay that.

“We’ve got two weeks now to sit and have the frustrations of this type of performance and result before we start another block of games for which we need to be ready."
