Albion suffered a 3-1 defeat to QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday afternoon.
Goals by Jonathan Varane and Rumarn Burrell (2) secured the hosts a Sky Bet Championship win, despite Aune Heggebø’s consolation.
Successive stoppages contributed to a disrupted opening period, where both teams found creating clear-cut chances challenging.
Despite that, Rangers did edge ahead in first-half added time via Varane, who converted a whipped cross for 1-0.
The action wasn’t quite done there as, almost immediately, George Campbell’s header forced Paul Nardi into a good stop - the QPR goalkeeper pushing away Albion’s best opportunity before the break.
Following the restart Albion attempted to get back in it, however Aune Heggebø nodded over and Mikey Johnston had a goal-bound shot well blocked.
But, instead, Rangers netted next. Burrell took advantage of a defensive mix-up and finished their second, giving Albion an uphill battle with 31 minutes remaining.
Burrell nearly scored again soon after, firing wide when presented with a huge opportunity, while down the other end Callum Styles and George Campbell saw finishes saved and Heggebø poked past the post.
The Norwegian striker made no mistake next time, though, quite brilliantly guiding Callum Styles’ ball home to halve the deficit and grab his sixth goal from five games.
Unfortunately, the fightback couldn’t be completed in London, and Burrell’s late tap-in ensured QPR would finish the match victorious.
