Albion Women left it late to beat Liverpool Feds in their FAWNL Northern Premier clash on Sunday afternoon.
Zoe Creaney and Rhianne Oakley gave Charlie Fripp’s side two leads either side of half-time, but Jess Brady notched to equalise on both occasions at Walton Hall Park.
But they had one further trick up their sleeves, as substitute Abbey Jones thundered an audacious strike into the top-right corner from range to hand the visitors all three points.
The Baggies took an early lead on Merseyside. After Izzy Green’s set-piece header went wide, Creaney stepped up to nod away the next one from Ella Haughey’s delightful delivery and give the visitors the advantage.
Despite the goalscorer’s injury forcing her to be replaced on the half-hour mark, Albion’s rhythm wasn’t disturbed. Rhianne Rush saw a strike forced off the line before Taylor Reynolds and Haughey tried their luck, albeit unsuccessfully, from range before half time.
Liverpool Feds started the half a bit brighter and had the ball in the net after a corner was scrambled in, but it was ruled offside, much to the away side’s relief.
And their pressure paid off, as Brady scored an incredible solo strike to level the match on the hour mark.
Albion regained their advantage with 15 minutes left to play when Oakley picked off a poor pass out from the Feds’ defence, rolling into the bottom corner to put the visitors back ahead.
But once again, their lead didn’t last long when Brady notched another equaliser, leaving Jones to smash past Naoisha McAloon for a 95th-minute winner on Merseyside.
