Full-back Nolan Galves’ move to the Baggies brings plenty of excitement after providing a creative touch to his game in recent seasons.
Born in Montbéliard, France, local side FC Sochaux gave the defender his early schooling in a professional setting and allowed him opportunities to break into the senior setup.
Having skippered Sochaux-Montbéliard’s U19 team on numerous occasions, Galves was entrusted with a first-team appearance at 18-years-old - playing the second half of a Coupe de France match in 2021.
The proceeding three seasons allowed Nolan to build his experience in the senior game, impressing down the right flank and earning a move up a division from Ligue 3 to Ligue 2 with Rodez AF.
It proved to be a move which cemented the wing-back’s momentum in France’s second tier, becoming a regular starter for ‘Le RAF’ and scoring his maiden senior goal against Paris FC in 2024 - assisting in the same game, as Nolan began to make his mark in matches.
The 2024/25 campaign was clearly a settling term for the youngster, as Galves more than doubled his goal contributions during the following term - chipping in with eight assists to help Rodez secure a fifth-placed finish.
In so doing, the attack-minded full-back represented his team in the Ligue 2 Play-Offs - assisting to help defeat Red Star 3-2 in the semi-final, prior to bowing out in the following knockout match against Saint Etienne on penalties.
A long 2025/26 campaign, tallying 36 outings, took Nolan to 100 senior appearances in French football before he embarked on a new chapter across Europe.
Now, in a new country with Albion, the right-back will hope to make his mark and add a different dimension to boss James Morrison’s options ahead of the 2026/27 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
