Albion were beaten 3-1 at Norwich City in the Emirates FA Cup fourth-round on Saturday afternoon.
Josh Maja cancelled out Paris Maghoma’s first-half header during an entertaining second 45 - yet Ben Chrisene and Mohamed Toure’s late efforts ultimately won the Canaries the tie.
The Baggies return to league action with a home game against Coventry City next weekend.
Eric Ramsay’s much-changed men, backed by 1,300 travelling fans in East Anglia, had an early goal disallowed when Maja converted a rebound, only for the offside flag to go up.
But the hosts soon took control and created a number of chances - notably Jacob Wright curling wide and Josh Griffiths brilliantly stopping Mathias Kvistgaarden’s volley.
Their opener then arrived around the half-hour mark, Maghoma nodding in following a clever corner routine and making it 1-0.
Albion did go close again before the break, debutant Hindolo Mustapha almost squeezing a cross-shot under Daniel Grimshaw, while Griffiths also pushed away another Kvistgaard opportunity down the other end.
The second period started in similar fashion to the first, with Maja seeing another attempt disallowed. The attacker was again offside when tapping home a close-range finish.
After substitute goalkeeper Max O’Leary had to superbly deny Jacob Wright, Maja finally got his goal on the 68-minute mark. Ousmane Diakite played him through and the striker dinked a sweet equaliser over Grimshaw.
Both teams introduced fresh legs and went searching for a winner. Unfortunately, Norwich found two late goals via Chrisene’s low, bottom corner-bound shot and Toure’s header, ensuring they reached the last-16.
