Albion bagged their first three points of their National League Cup campaign on Tuesday Evening.
Leigh Downing's young Baggies put in an assured display against senior side Boston United, claiming a 1-0 win in an entertaining encounter in Lincolnshire.
An own goal ultimately separated the sides, but the Baggies created a host of chances on the night and were deserving of their win on the east coast.
It was a frenetic start at the Jakemans Community Stadium, with the hosts seeing Charlie Blackshields' back pass come off the post before Rio Parmar twice threatened to score at the other end.
First, the forward cut inside after neat work down the left only to see his curling effort go just wide of the far post, before two brilliant last-ditch challenges denied him from close range.
Colesby saw another effort flash past the post before Blackshields' bullet header also flew just the wrong side of the upright.
The hosts twice came close to netting as the game began to settle down, with Georgie Gent and Ken Aboh both worrying Okonkwo between the sticks - the former finding the side netting before the Albion shot-stopper tipped the latter's strike over the crossbar acrobatically.
Jaiden Francis-Caesar next came closest to breaking the deadlock meeting a sumptuous cross from the right but saw his header back across goal blocked.
Parmar should have put Downing's side ahead just ahead of 40 minutes, but after brilliantly beating his man, his low strike from the middle of the box grazed the outside of the post with the goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Both sides came out of the blocks quickly as the second half got underway, with each seeing efforts from outside the box failing to find their mark.
But it was the visitors who would take the lead on the hour mark, albeit through fortunate circumstances.
Whipping in a corner from the left, the Pilgrims aimed to clear the Albion cross with a headed effort which instead cannoned back into the net off one of their own defenders.
The Baggies struck the woodwork as they sought a second, whilst Boston saw two presentable opportunities blocked as the chances continued to flow.
The next would fall Matty Crowther's way 15 minutes before time, but his first strike was blocked on the line after a deep free kick was nodded back across goal, before his follow up flew past the far post.
Okonkwo was called into action shortly after, pulling off a smart save with his feet before Noah DuPont's brave block frustrated the hosts further.
Harry French could've wrapped up the points as the game edged into the closing stages when played in on the left, but a scampering Pilgrims defender did well to deny him a clean strike on goal.
It looked as though another goal was a certainty, with the hosts pushing forward and Albion a real threat on the counter.
The Baggies came closest after a chaotic moment in the Pilgrims box first saw one close range strike saved before the visitors' claims for a spot kick were waved away following a rash challenge from the goalkeeper.
But Downing's youngsters saw out the final moments calmly to ensure they claimed all three points for the first time this season in the competition.
