Albion drew 1-1 with Preston North End in an action-packed Sky Bet Championship affair on Saturday afternoon.
Aune Heggebø’s late leveller for the Baggies cancelled out Andrew Hughes’ goal, ensuring the spoils were shared at Deepdale.
The stormy, difficult conditions in Lancashire made the game a frantic affair. Preston sent an early tester to Max O’Leary via Johnny Kenny’s long-range effort, which he pushed away, before Alfie Devine soon flashed another one across goal.
Despite that, the Baggies controlled possession for long spells – almost 75 per cent throughout the opening 45 – and created a few notable chances themselves.
Barney Stewart saw a poke blocked after Felix Horn Myhre’s creative backheeled cross, and North End goalkeeper Daniel Iversen twice denied Isaac Price strikes. Ousmane Diakite also fired over ahead of the break.
Similarly to the first-half, Preston got off on the front foot – with Delano Burgzorg denied by a strong O’Leary hand following the restart. Albion’s No.1 then kept out Kenny’s near-post shot and watched Burgzorg slide just wide in a testing start to the second period.
Morrison’s men got through it and the head coach introduced JJ Morgan and Heggebø to help them turn the tide. The change almost helped inspire a goal as Horn Myhre nearly netted from point-blank range, only for Iversen to stop his flick.
However, it was Preston who broke the deadlock when Hughes scrambled home inside the area on the 78-minute mark.
That looked to have given them the win, but thankfully Albion struck back immediately during the final stages - substitute Heggebø hammering in an equaliser to ensure they left with a point.
