Mikey Johnston says he was “buzzing” to score such a spectacular goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Preston North End at The Hawthorns.
The Republic of Ireland winger fired an incredible effort into the top corner from the best part of 30 yards towards the end of the first period to hand Ryan Mason’s outfit a 1-0 lead.
Isaac Price added a second after the break and although Michael Smith pulled a late one back for the Lilywhites, it was the Baggies who recorded all three Sky Bet Championship points.
Mikey insists he’ll be challenging himself to “pull the trigger” from distance more frequently in the future.
Johnston said: “I’m buzzing with that one today. I’ve been saying for a while that I want to score more goals.
“I need to keep pulling the trigger from range because I know that I’ve got that in my locker because I do it a lot in training. I just need to be confident and keep doing it.
“I feel like I’ve been impacting games this season in different ways because I’ve had a few assists too. I just need to keep adding to the tally and help the team win games.
“I had a few shots in the first half which just went wide or just went wrong, but, as I say, I need to keep pulling the trigger because I know I can score goals.

“Isaac’s Price’s goal was a great finish too. He’s got that in his locker as well. We’ve seen it a few times already this season. I’m delighted for him.
“I think it was a deserved win today. I feel like we should have killed the game a bit earlier. The game got a bit frantic in the second half, which has happened a couple of times here at The Hawthorns this season. We need to try and address that and kill games off, but we were by far the better team today.
“We needed to put that Millwall performance right because it wasn’t acceptable and we’ve done that today. We bounced back straight away which is pleasing.”
