West Bromwich Albion travel to Rotherham United for their next Sky Bet Championship clash on Tuesday night (ko 7.45pm).

The Baggies have suffered back-to-back narrow 2-1 defeats against Leicester City and Sunderland recently, with Carlos Corberán's men focused on returning to winning ways at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in midweek.

Hosts Rotherham United, who had been without a manager since the middle of November, appointed former Wigan Athletic boss Leam Richardson as their new gaffer on Monday night on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

They slipped to the bottom of the table on Saturday, losing 2-1 at home to Swansea City in game which saw them reduced to ten men as early as the 17th minute when Daniel Ayala picked up his second booking.

The opponents

Rotherham United find themselves in the unwelcome position of being bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table heading into Tuesday's fixture at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

Saturday's 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea City extended their winless run to eight matches, with the Millers claiming just two league victories this season - the fewest amount in the second tier.

The South Yorkshire outfit finished six points above the relegation zone last term, but are eight points adrift of safety after 20 games this time around.

Rotherham had been without a permanent manager since Matt Taylor's departure in the middle of November, with Wayne Carlisle put in interim charge.

However, that all changed when ex-Wigan boss Leam Richardson accepted the role on Monday evening. Richardson led the Latics to the Sky Bet League One title ahead of United in 2021/22, but was dismissed in November 2022 after a disappointing start to the campaign. The 44-year-old former Bolton Wanders defender has also managed Accrington Stanley, a club who he made over 130 appearances for as a player between 2005 and 2013.

The Millers will be hoping to claw back ground on those clubs above them

One to remember

Dwight Gayle's hat-trick helped fire the Baggies to a thumping 4-0 success in South Yorkshire three days before Christmas in 2018.

Harvey Barnes was the other goalscorer on what was a terrific afternoon for the visitors.

Defender Semi Ajayi could make his 150th appearance for the Baggies against his former club on Tuesday night.

Ajayi swapped South Yorkshire for the West Midlands in the summer of 2019 and will hit the milestone if he plays at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

The Nigerian amassed over a century of games for the Millers between January 2017 and July 2019.
