Albion claimed a fantastic 1-0 win at Derby County in the Sky Bet Championship on Wednesday evening.

Aune Heggebø’s header earned the Baggies all three points, despite the visitors playing more than an hour with just 10 men.

James Morrison’s team defended resolutely throughout, earning an incredible clean sheet and a quite stunning victory.

After enduring some early Derby pressure, Albion took a 16th-minute lead via their first real chance of the game.

A good spell ended when JJ Morgan delivered a low cross to Heggebø, and the striker poked home a typical front-post effort.

The Norwegian soon headed another opportunity over the bar while the visitors remained on top. However, momentum changed again when Brayann Pereira was shown a second yellow card 11 minutes before half-time.

The Baggies did hold firm until the interval, but they came under big pressure following the restart.

Mo Fuseini shot off-target, Eiran Cashin had one deflected wide and Lars-Jorgen Salvesen’s header was comfortably saved.

More Albion misfortune arrived when substitute Nolan Galves suffered an injury, yet James Morrison’s men got their heads down and kept to the task. They cleared numerous crosses and corners, limiting Derby to only a few genuine attempts.

And, backed by 3,100 loud travelling fans, Albion ultimately saw the game out - including five added minutes - to claim a momentous, long-awaited win in Derbyshire.
