Albion were held to a 1-1 draw by Charlton Athletic on Wednesday evening.
Callum Styles’ sublime strike had given the Baggies a well-deserved lead around the hour mark, but Tyreece Campbell’s 69th minute leveller earned them a share of the Sky Bet Championship points.
It was a frustrating first period for the hosts, who had more than 70 per cent possession but couldn’t break down their resilient opponents.
Callum Styles and new signing Kareem Tunde - making his home debut - both fired wide inside 21 minutes.
Some quick thinking then probably created Albion’s best opening, as JJ Morgan’s free-kick saw Isaac Price played in. The Northern Ireland international attempted his trademark curled finish, and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to push the shot away.
They continued to control the game without creating another clear-cut opportunity before half-time, while also ensuring Charlton were kept quiet.
Price saw one deflected just over straight after the break, and Okonkwo was called into action again to keep out substitute Rabby Nzingoula’s powerful effort.
The consistent pressure finally paid off, though, around the hour mark. Charlton could only clear an Albion corner to the edge of the box where Styles controlled the ball and found the top corner with a superb half-volley.
However, the away side equalised from their first real chance via Campbell - the forward netting to capitalise on a counter attack and make it 1-1.
James Morrison turned to his bench, introducing striker Aune Heggebø and Barney Stewart during the final stages. Yet they couldn't find a winner, leaving the points to be split.
