James Morrison believes the “fight and determination” on show from his players at Bristol City was “clear” for all to see.
The Baggies moved four points away of the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone thanks to a 1-0 win at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
George Campbell scored the only goal of the contest, heading home a Callum Styles corner from the right in the first period.
Albion have now secured back-to-back triumphs, back-to-back clean sheets and are four games unbeaten.
Morrison insists the group will take plenty of “pride” from their performances of late, but stressed the need to keep digging in with seven fixtures left to play.
The interim head coach said: “The fight and determination once again from the group impressed me today. That was clear to see from the start.
“I felt Bristol City would give us some problems based on what I had seen of them, but the lads stuck to the gameplan that we asked of them.
“We could’ve had a few more goals than just the one today and that would’ve put the icing on the cake, but when we needed to defend at the end, our defence won us the game, and I include Josh Griffiths in that. I’m really pleased with that and I’m pleased for the away fans too.
“I want to say a huge thank you to the away fans. When I stepped off the bus, there were so many fans waiting and cheering us in and then on in the game. I felt a warm feeling when we stepped off the coach and they were there and it made us feel ready.
“George Campbell got the only goal today and he’s really stepped up. I’m really pleased for him. He’s already played a season-and-a-half and he’s stepped into a new position and into a new partnership. He’s stepped up, scored goals and his overall performance today was at a really high level.
“I asked the lads to be compact in shape, but, when there’s a chance to attack, to attack quick and don’t give the opposition a chance to get back into position. That suits the team and having two strikers in there helps.
“The belief has been there. We’ve been building our belief from Sheffield United, day-to-day. We need to take that belief into our mini season when we come back from the international break. The belief should be through the roof, but we can’t get carried away. It’s one part of the job done and we need to keep working hard and go again.
“We’re really pleased to have now kept two clean sheets. We’ve been trying to stop conceding goals and that’s something we’ve worked really hard on. We’ve asked the subs to come on and make an impact and they’ve done that in the last couple of weeks. That’s helped at both ends.
“We need to stay focused on our performances and continue to put so much effort into each individual game. If we get that, we’re a match for anyone in this division.
“We’re taking pride from what we’ve done in the last four games, but we’ll keep working and we’ll keep fighting.”
