The Millichip Suite was alive with festive cheer as 81 participants from the Hawthorns Hub and Memories Group gathered for their annual Christmas Dinner, hosted by Jon Homer. This special event has become a cornerstone of the hubs calendar, offering a chance for members to come together, celebrate, and share in the joy of the season.
Guests were treated to a delicious three-course meal, but the highlight of the afternoon was the presence of some of Albion’s most beloved figures. Club legends Jonny Giles, Graham Williams, Tony ‘Bomber’ Brown, Ally Robertson, Andy Johnson, and Chris Brunt joined our participants, sharing stories from their playing days and reflecting on the importance of the Hawthorns Hub in supporting the local community. Former players Daryl Burgess and Steve Lillwall also attended, adding to the sense of nostalgia and connection.
The event wasn’t just about looking back—it was about inspiring the future. Members of Albion’s U18 scholars joined the celebration, engaging with guests and learning about the club’s rich history. Later, excitement grew as first-team players Josh Maja, Chris Mepham, Isaac Price, Ousmane Diakite, Callum Styles, and Tamer Bany arrived to mingle with attendees. They shared their Christmas wish lists and gave positive thoughts on upcoming fixtures, creating unforgettable memories for everyone present.
After dinner, guests were treated to a special performance by Charlie Brunt, son of Chris Brunt, who entertained the room with a selection of Christmas classics and an original song on his acoustic guitar. The music added a magical touch to an already memorable afternoon.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Gurdial Singh - Supporter Engagement Officer, shared:
“It’s humbling to see how the Hawthorns Hub has grown since the first Christmas lunch six years ago. It is thanks to the club and The Albion Foundation coming together that this is possible—we really are an Albion family.
Thank you to everyone who donated their time, resources, and goodwill towards making this happen.
The Albion Memories Group, for those diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer’s, joined us for a magical afternoon.
It’s lovely to see the friendships that have been made. It was made even more special by the attendance of former players, current squad members, and our future stars, the Academy U21s. This year we were entertained by the talented Charlie Brunt, Brunty’s eldest son. An afternoon that nobody will forget!”
The Hawthorns Hub and Memories Group play a vital role in supporting lifelong Albion fans and those living with dementia, offering a safe and welcoming space to connect through shared experiences. Events like this Christmas Dinner are more than just a meal—they are an opportunity to strengthen friendships, combat isolation, and celebrate the Albion family.
