Albion Women head to Molineux on Sunday for a meeting with local rivals Wolves in the FAWNL Northern Premier (ko 3pm).
It’s the fourth Black Country derby of the season for the Baggies, who are in the midst of a positive run of form, having enjoyed three league wins on the bounce.
The visitors jumped up to fifth-place following Middlesbrough’s draw with Hull City Ladies, and Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s side will hope to capitalise and further strengthen their hold on the top five.
Last time out
Albion ran riot in one of their flagship Hawthorns matches last time out.
The Baggies hit Sporting Khalsa for six thanks to Monique Robinson (2), Lucy Day (2), Fran Orthodoxou and Ellie May, who were all on target to please a buoyant set of fans at the Shrine.
The opposition
The hosts are familiar opponents for Hodgetts-Still’s Albion side. The two teams have met in the league, FAWNL Cup and Birmingham County FA Challenge Cup this season, taking their total encounters to four for the campaign by the time Sunday comes around.
With just three matches left to play, Wolves have secured at least a FAWNL promotion play-off spot, with them due to play a team from the Southern Premier in a single-legged match to decide a place in WSL 2. That is, of course, should they not overtake league-leaders Burnley - who remain a place and four points ahead.
Dan McNamara’s side produced a comfortable 5-0 win away at Loughborough Lightning last weekend. A brace from Charlotte Greengrass flanked efforts from Beth Merrick, Racheal Quigley and Amber Hughes to apply pressure to the league pacesetters.
Wolves are the league-highest goalscorers (59), and have been able to count on a few sources of strikes this season. Forward Hughes stands level at the top of the charts, having notched 19 goals, while strike partner Greengrass stands sixth with 13 efforts to her name.
And the hosts will hope to continue their form in-front of goal when they welcome the Baggies on Sunday - in order to continue their momentum heading into the end of the campaign.

Pre-match thoughts
Simran Jhamat’s performance against Sporting Khalsa was especially impressive when you consider that it was her first league start since October (Derby County, a 3-0 victory in the FAWNL Northern Premier).
With Women’s Super League and WSL appearances to her name, the forward was pleased to spearhead an attack featuring recent additions Monique Robinson and Riya Mannu - who both share similar experience in the country’s top two divisions.
After adding that quality to the squad, the 26-year-old hopes they can continue to “combine” to achieve further results like their one at The Hawthorns, starting with Sunday’s Black Country derby at Molineux.
Looking forward to their trip to Wolverhampton, Jhamat believes the squad are capable of showing the “fight and desire” required to get a result against their rivals this weekend.
She said: “We had struggled in-front of goal a far bit before Sunday, so to get six is really good. We’d been working on set-pieces too, so for Lucy (Day) to get her head on two was fantastic.
“We were very strong in-possession and we just want to keep building from here. We could’ve had more goals but we did what we could and it all comes down to that final decision or final pass.
“(For the second goal) I’m claiming the assist. Izzy (Green) wants to claim it, but it was good from all of us. The creativity and composure from the team made the goal. Credit to Mon (-ique Robinson) for running in-behind, we’ve been working on that quite a lot through the weeks - for it to pay off is really nice.
“We always want to show what we can do when we’re playing at The Hawthorns in-front of our own fans. Those games are massive, we just want to keep going.
“For me personally, I’ve been coming off the bench and trying to make a difference, that’s all I can do. Shev (Siobhan Hodgetts-Still) has been really happy with me for that.
“To get my first start in a while, I was really happy and I thought I played well against Khalsa. For me on a personal note to get my first start in a while, was really good.
“Adding more talent to the squad is massive for me. The three of us in that front-line (Monique Robinson, Riya Mannu and Jhamat herself) are all ball-players and we work off each other really well.
“You could see how well we combine by the way we played on Sunday. I really enjoy playing with them and I hope that can be seen by the performance level at The Hawthorns.
“I feel like I’ve proved myself over the last month or so, and I’m hitting the ground running when I get the chance. I’m just working hard to get some more appearances over the next few weeks and I’ll do my best to grasp that opportunity.
“We’re always going to be up for the derby this weekend. We’re always raring to go, and we’re always especially excited for it to come, especially with it at Molineux.
“It provides that opportunity to show fight and desire which we’ll always give on the day as well. The recent game against them, it was two crosses from corners and we know what we can do better and have taken a lot of confidence from our performance against them earlier in the season.”
