Eric Ramsay insisted he and his coaching staff are doing “everything in their power” to find the solutions to the challenges the team are facing.
Albion, who have been unable to record a victory so far in 2026, sit inside the bottom three heading into Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at The Hawthorns against mid-table Stoke City (ko 3.01pm).
The boss says the whole group are “absolutely desperate” to move the club forward and Ramsay believes a victory over the Potters would inject a huge amount of confidence.
Eric said: “We’ve struck a balance well of the obvious need for disappointment and the humility that comes with a game like that last weekend, and a real sense of urgency and desperation to put the situation right.
“It was a really tough day for all involved. I didn’t want that to be lost on anyone and I wanted that to hurt.
“This is a group that is absolutely desperate to look a whole lot different on Saturday against Stoke City. Everyone is desperate to move the club forward and not be in the situation that we’re in.
“I can speak very openly and say that at this point in time, four games in, we’ve not found the answers so far. We are desperately trying to make sure we find something that works for the players. We will continue to try and find what style suits the players the best.
“I think the players would look at us and see a group of staff that are fully focused and doing everything in their power to find solutions to difficult problems. We will never give up on them and we expect the same from the players. That’s all we’ve felt up until this point.
“At home on Saturday, we have to make sure we connect with the crowd well. We have to make sure we feed the momentum in the same way Portsmouth were able to do so last weekend. We have to build that energy in the stadium really early on because it can be a huge weapon. So far, we’ve not done that and we’ve not started games well enough at home.
“Stoke are a good side and they’ve got some very talented individuals. They like to dominate possession, and they’ve got an incredibly experienced manager.
“They carry plenty of threats and they’re well-organised defensively. It’s no small challenge, but it’s a challenge I’m confident we can meet and come away from with a positive result.
“A victory would give the whole club a big lift. The players want it, I want it and the supporters want it. Hopefully we can deliver on Saturday and we’ll be making sure we give everything we’ve got to try and achieve that win.”
