West Bromwich Albion have a Sky Bet Championship showdown with Stoke City on Saturday afternoon at The Hawthorns (ko 3.01pm).

The Baggies, who were beaten 3-0 at Portsmouth last weekend, will be desperate to halt a seven-game winless run in all competitions.

The Potters sit in the middle of the second-tier pack, but haven't won any of their last four encounters. Saturday's guests were defeated 2-0 at home by Southampton in their most recent match.

A first-half effort from Nat Phillips was enough to secure the points for the Albion in the reverse fixture back in August. Check out the highlights from that particular clash below.

The opposition

Stoke City will be intent on returning to winning ways as quickly as possible having slipped down to mid-table in the last few weeks.

The Potters, now into their eighth straight second-tier term, have been in and around the top six of the division for the majority of the 2025/26 campaign, but they head to The Hawthorns on a four-game run without a win (D2, L2) - a sequence of results which has left them a handful of points off the play-off spots.

Three of those four fixtures were played at the bet365 Stadium, including last weekend's 2-0 defeat against Southampton, but away from Staffordshire, Stoke are three unbeaten.

Saturday's guests drew 1-1 at Birmingham City two weeks ago after recording triumphs at Hull City (1-0) and Norwich City (2-0).

Former Coventry City boss Mark Robins is in charge and has been since New Year's Day in 2025. The 56-year-old, who has also managed Rotherham United, Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United, has overseen 57 Stoke matches, winning 20, losing 21 and drawing 16.

Memorable meeting

Albion recorded a 2-1 triumph over the Potters in the Sky Bet Championship in September 2018.

Dwight Gayle scored a delightful double, notching once in each half before Erik Pieters rifled in an eye-catching consolation at the death.

Recent record on home soil against the Potters

Albion 1-1 Stoke City, January 2025

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns in the middle of January last year. Nathan Lowe scored in the ninth minute for the visitors, but Grady Diangana equalised in the final 20. The hosts pushed for a winner, but sadly couldn't find one.

Albion 1-1 Stoke City, December 2023

The Baggies were held at home by Stoke a week before Christmas in 2023. Lynden Gooch's right-wing cross caught Alex Palmer out and flew straight into the far corner as early as the 12th minute, but the Baggies responded before the break. Striker Brandon Thomas-Asante hit a ferocious strike into the back of the net from the edge of the box to make it 1-1. Both clubs had opportunities to add further goals in the second period, but the contest ended level.

Albion 2-0 Stoke City, November 2022

The hosts were comfortable winners when the Potters came to town before the break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Kyle Bartley nodded in an opener in the first period and Brandon Thomas-Asante sealed the triumph with an outstanding acrobatic finish in the early part of the second half. Check out the highlights below.

Stoke City are winless in four. The last time the Potters went five games without tasting victory was during a run of six in January last year.

Kick-off time shifted to highlight power of life-saving CPR

Thirty-six EFL fixtures, from the 5-9 February, across all three EFL divisions, are set to kick off one minute later than scheduled, as a stark reminder that every minute matters when it comes to performing life-saving CPR.

The kick-off times are designed to raise awareness of Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation’s transformative Every Minute Matters campaign, which, with the support of the EFL, has already inspired over 400,000 people to start learning CPR since the campaign launched in May 2024.

This February is Heart Month, and Sky Bet, the BHF and the EFL are on a mission to mobilise football fans across the nation, as the campaign aims to get half a million people to save hearts all over the UK by starting to learn CPR by the end of the month.

Throughout February, Sky Bet and BHF’s Every Minute Matters campaign will be calling on fans to step up and learn CPR using the BHF’s free, simple and easy-to-use online tool, RevivR. Fans can search ‘BHF RevivR’ or visit revivr.bhf.org.uk/efl.
