Alex Mowatt says it’s important for Albion to “stick together” following their frustrating 1-1 draw with neighbours Birmingham City.
Mowatt opened the scoring against the Baggies’ West Midlands rivals on Wednesday night at The Hawthorns – his first strike of the 2025/26 season.
However, the hosts couldn’t hang on to their three points and Blues equalised through Marvin Ducksch’s glancing header 12 minutes from time.
Mowatt insists his team deserved more than a draw, but believes “things aren’t going” for the group at this moment in time.
The skipper said: “It was a better performance from us. I think the Coventry performance was a good one too, but we were unlucky there. Tonight, we’ve conceded a set-piece goal near the end.
“I thought we were the better team and I thought we should have gone maybe two or three-nil up. If we do that, the game is different.
“We definitely could’ve won the game tonight, but it feels like things aren’t going for us at the minute.
“We have to stick together, keep working hard and hopefully things will turn round.
“It’s very frustrating that we’ve not killed the game off. We had a few chances on the counter and we also had a fair few shots in the second period.
“We weathered their storm. They were putting crosses in and they had a few corners, but we defended it well. It was a shame that we couldn’t keep them out and we were disappointed to concede from a set-piece at the end.
“We’re a bit down at the moment. It’s difficult when results aren’t going your way, but we have to stick together. I know it’s difficult when you’re not winning games, but we showed out there tonight that everyone is running for each other and everyone is working hard.
“We all have to stick together, the players, the fans and the coaching staff.
“We’ve got a big game on Saturday and hopefully we’ll be able to put things right.”
