The Albion Foundation was delighted to mark the final West Bromwich Albion player appearance of the season, rounding off another outstanding year of engagement across Sandwell and the wider community.

Throughout the campaign, Albion players from both the men’s and women’s first teams have taken time away from their football schedules to support Foundation programmes, playing a vital role in inspiring participants and strengthening the connection between the Club and its communities. Across the season, players have attended more than 50 appearances, engaging with over 1,500 participants of all ages and abilities.

These visits have taken place across a wide range of Foundation programmes, including educational school initiatives, elite and pan-disability sessions, grassroots football projects, holiday camps, post‑16 education pathways and wellbeing programmes such as Memories Group and Hawthorns Hub. Each visit offered participants a unique opportunity to meet their Albion favourites, ask questions and take part in activities alongside them.

Players regularly joined in with coaching sessions, challenges and group discussions, offering encouragement and sharing their own journeys within the game. Q&A sessions gave participants the chance to learn more about life as a professional footballer, while photo opportunities with players and parents helped create memories that will last long beyond the season.

For many young people and adults involved in Foundation programmes, seeing Albion players attend sessions provides a powerful sense of belonging and motivation. Whether visiting schools to promote messages around education and aspiration, supporting disability football to champion inclusive participation, or engaging with wellbeing groups to offer connection and conversation, the players’ presence has had a lasting impact.

Foundation staff highlighted the enthusiasm shown by players at every appearance, with many taking time to speak individually with participants, parents and staff. This commitment continues to reinforce the shared values between West Bromwich Albion Football Club and its charitable arm, ensuring participants feel supported both on and off the pitch.

One of the final visits of the season showcased the full breadth of the Foundation’s work across Sandwell, bringing together participants from multiple programmes to celebrate another successful year. Parents and carers were also able to join in, underlining the role the Foundation plays in supporting families and the community.

Speaking at one of the final appearances, Rob Lake, Foundation Director, said:
“Player visits add real value to everything we do. Giving participants the opportunity to meet both our men’s and women’s first‑team players, ask questions and take part in sessions alongside them creates meaningful experiences that support confidence, enjoyment and belonging across our programmes.”

As the season concludes, the Albion Foundation would like to thank West Bromwich Albion and its players for their continued support and dedication. Planning is already underway for another year of player engagement, as the Foundation looks forward to building on this season’s successes and continuing to create meaningful opportunities across its community programmes.
