Albion scored three late goals to beat Peterborough 3-0 at The Hawthorns in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Following a goalless first-half, which the Baggies dominated, Darnell Furlong, Karlan Grant and Grady Diangana netted winners in the final 12 minutes in front of the Birmingham Road End to earn a valuable three points.
The result ensures Valérien Ismaël’s team sit alongside Liverpool as the only teams still unbeaten on their own patch in the Premier League and EFL at home this season.
The boss made three changes for Peterborough’s visit as Kyle Bartley and Matt Clarke returned to the defence and Daryl Dike was brought in for his first start.
And Albion’s new striker was inches away from opening the scoring inside 10 minutes, glancing Furlong’s whipped cross just wide.
His next opportunity was also the Baggies’ next opportunity – this time Jake Livermore’s long-range shot was deflected into the American international’s path, but his side-footed effort was straight at Posh goalkeeper Steven Benda.
Moments later Cédric Kipré curled a great ball into the 6-yard box for Dike to attack, with his fierce header going narrowly over as Albion had their best spell of the first-half.
Adam Reach saw a low drive well blocked, as did Livermore, in the closing stages of the opening period – but it remained goalless at the break.
Shortly after the interval Dike was forced off with an injury, Diangana his replacement.
The attacker almost made an immediate impact – a clever one-two setting up a chance on the edge of the box – however his curling shot was saved by Benda.
Matt Phillips nodded a Furlong corner wide before Callum Robinson and Jayson Molumby were introduced with 15 minutes left, and Albion continued to push for a goal.
And, finally, the first arrived when a corner caused chaos in the Peterborough area and Furlong was on hand to smash a shot home, potentially via the body of fellow Baggies defender Kipré.
Immediately the lead was doubled and quickly tripled, Grant and Diangana both racing through to finish fantastically one after the other, causing good scenes of celebration around The Hawthorns and securing a well-earned victory against the Posh.
